OCTOBER, 2021
The reunion event for the 1970 class of Oak Hills High School in Cincinnati got off to a rocky start. The event was first planned for October, 2020. Due to COVID concerns, the event was rescheduled and finally held in October, 2021. Once 500 strong in numbers, the aging class population is now maybe 80% of its former self. Considering the still lingering concerns of COVID and the challenges in contacting people after so many years, the event was well attended. It was good to see everyone after so many years.
Among the many things that made this event a memorable were the door prizes that were contributed by several classmates. As the company owner is a graduate of the high school, a bird house contribution was a natural fit.
The house captures elements of the school theme that students from 1970 and even today would recognize. The students of Oak Hills High School are known as the Highlanders. In keeping with its Scottish theme, the school red, white and black colors are captured in a familiar tartan pattern that welcomes any bird family that may take up residence in the future. The famous Oak Hills mascot, a fighting Scottish Highlander, is hand painted on each side of the house.

The rear of the house bears the classic and distinctive “OH” lettering that remains in use today. A white band encircling the house is lettered with the school and mascot name. A white roof with individual CNC carved letters completes the design elements of the house.

Congratulations and Happy Trails to all of the 1970 class of Oak Hills High School.
